6 Week Work Experience Programme - Introduction to Catering & Hospitality
Our work experience programme aims to teach basic catering skills, food safety and hygiene qualifications to Neurodivergent young people (working with local colleges) young people whom are home schooled and young people with other barriers to work enabling them to have better job prospects in the future. If students decide after 6 week they would like to continue on our programme they will go on to learn about catering in different work places they will learn Barista Skills with our friends at Iconic Coffee, the art of chocolate making, working in a care home kitchen, a fine dining experience and even a distillery. Our programme will include hands on work experience in different settings as well as the possibility of flexible job opportunities within our own bakery.
Students will learn about food safety and hygiene in the Commercial Kitchen, recipe and menu development, basic cookery skills, customer service skills and an introduction to barista skills. Our students get involved with our community meal service.
The course is for 2 days per week for 5 hours a day starting at 9:30 and finishing at 2:30pm Lunch is prepared by the class and included.
